I knew a couple of Marine Security Guards in Mexico City in 1992 who had been TDY'd to Clark after Pinatubo erupted. They were providing security for the cleanup crews. Clark Air Base was pretty much deserted by that point.

I spent 18 months at Clark 61-62 and had no idea that Pinatubo was a dormant volcano. Does anyone if Pinatubo used to be called Lily Hill? The stories we were told that the Japanese had a garrison on Lily Hill, and the Huks sneaked into their barracks and cut every other Japanese soldiers' throats. Don't know if it's true or not, but it makes for a good story.
