Iran to build jet trainer aircraft

The Air Force of Islamic Republic of Iran (IRIAF) has announced a plan to manufacture jet trainer aircraft in line with the military's scientific breakthroughs.

Iran is continuing to “manufacture advanced models of fighter jets, including Saeqeh (thunderbolt) and Azarakhsh (lightning),” IRNA quoted IRIAF Commander Brigadier General Hassan Shah-Safi as saying on Wednesday.

He referred to the advances made by the Iranian Air Force to keep abreast with modern technologies and sciences.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force is the most powerful air force in the region,” he further added.

IRIAF has recently launched a project to design and build the country's most advanced fighter jet, which is said to be a new generation of Saeqeh with enhanced features.

Iran has launched a campaign for self-sufficiency in the country's defense industry, launching numerous military hardware projects, including aerial and sea-borne military vehicles such as submarines, combat frigates, and various types of missiles.

BS - that looks like old US military surplus from the time of the Shah with some fancy wings added and a paint job.

Don’t forget the headlights so you can fly at night.

Looks to me like an F-5 with twin tails stolen off an F-18.

They will probably use an f-5f for the trainer airframe.

Wow! Well, that's one way to depict Zeus on Mount Olympus with his thunderbolts and all..!

Actually, while the Tazarv trainer has some features similar to other intermediate trainers out there, it doesn't appear to be based on any specfic one. It's probably the only genuine wholly Iranian aircraft design (with a US engine).
