While I respect my employers rule against firearms (which I think is stupid) I do like the pending Texas state legistration to prevent them from disallowing firearms in the parking garage or lots. In effect that disarms me all week, going to and coming home from work, and anywhere inbetween I decide to go.
I'd like to be able to carry to work and lock the weapon up in the vehicle (our parking is in a garage and is pretty safe).

Although my employer prohibits weapons in the workplace, the NM Constitution considers one’s vehicle as the equivalent of one’s dwelling (extended domain). They tried to ban firearms in vehicles (headquarters is in CA), but after a spirited discussion with the head of corporate security they backed down.

This. Big time. Though I work with some real jerks, they're not even close to "shootable." I couldn't care less about carrying in the workplace.

However, a former co-worker was murdered in a carjacking on the way home from work. Stopped at a grocery store to get something and never made it home.

Happy ending: the murderer raised his weapon when SAPD SWAT raided his apartment. That was his last mistake. Saved the state the expense of a trial.

I agree. I wish I were able to carry at work, but I'll abide by the law and my employer's wishes.
