President Obama hasn't broken his promise to seek immigration reform, Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) said Sunday in defense of the president.
Pelosi said that Republicans were to blame for the inability of Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform, and, barring that, the DREAM Act.
"Well, I don't think he broke his promise, what he found is that it is almost impossible with the resistance in the Senate of the Republicans to pass it," Pelosi said Sunday in an interview on Univision. "But that doesn't mean we don't keep on trying and keep coming up with new ways to do it."
Obama and Democratic leaders in Congress had talked consistently over the past two years about their intention to push forward with immigration reform, as they'd promised to do on the campaign trail in 2008. But the protracted healthcare battle and stagnant economy deprived Congress of the time and political capital to tackle comprehensive reform.
Instead, in the lame-duck Congress, the House passed the DREAM Act, a more limited bill providing a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children. But even this measure failed in the Senate, when most Republicans and some Democrats joined together to sustain a filibuster of the legislation.
That failure was seen as a disappointment to Hispanic voters, who tend Democratic and had favored immigration reform. Elected Democrats are hoping the inaction won't hurt Obama and the party at the polls in the 2012 election.

The left’s solution to broken promises: declare them “not broken”.
Besides the fact that all liberal politicians and activist are liars, they are also all cowards. Democrats had the majority to do what they wanted. Now that the Republicans have the House, losers like Nancy try to dump all their failures on them. Nancy is proof that dimwits with BAs in political science, and children from mobster families should never be allowed near political power. For that matter, liberals should not be allowed to work in government, education or media, period.
We should pass the dream act under the stipulation that all the illegals set up one community at the Pelosi Vineyards and properties only.
She can be their dream queen in their new socialist utopia compound quarantined for 100 years.
So, “Bush’s fault” is over and now it’s “Republicans’ fault.”

All you have to do, Pile-o-shi, is convince the American people how their hard earned tax dollars should go to feed, house and educate illegal aliens at the expense of their own children and households. Then, tell all the city and state governments that are being taken under by the tidal wave of illegals how to take care of them all with the dwindling resources available to them. Convince the communities that are overrun with these illegals that the resulting degradation and downgrading of their property values and quality of life is a “good thing.”

The bums vote for handouts. Our taxes pay for these bums. We need a law that only allows taxpayers to vote.
Nancy Pelosi is a joke. The dems had control of Congress and the White House for two years and couldn’t be bothered with real immigration reform. Now they have no one to blame but themselves. They wanted their precious Obamacare and they got it, to the exclusion of almost all else.
