My comment had nothing to do with Wisconsin. It comes from what I know about DiLorenzo's Real Lincoln. In the 12th edition of Irving Copi's standard university logic textbook, this Lincoln biography is cited as the example of "fallacy of accent", a "deliberate distortion" where a change of emphasis is utilized to distort original meaning. Sadly this misleading book has made many people distrustful of anything written by Mr. DiLorenzo.
