Half of America’s voters favor public sector unions for government workers, but they strongly oppose the tactic by Wisconsin state senators to flee their state to prevent a vote that would limit the rights of such unions.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that only 25% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of this tactic, while 67% disapprove. State legislators in Indiana have used the same approach to avoid a vote in their state.

Just proves what we already knew - only hardcore Democrat libs think that running away is an appropriate tactic. This poll surely reflects the views of many Independents who are independent because they reject extreme partisan stunts like this.

It would be nice to milk this crisis for even more advantage before the Fleebaggers finally give it up and come home.

One way would be for the WI Legislature to pass.. and the Governor sign.. every single bill on the Republicans' wish list that doesn't require a 20-member quorum.

It's a good time to follow the advice of the new mayor down the road in Chicago: "Never let a good crisis go to waste."

“Never let a good crisis go to waste.”

especially when the crisis was wholly owned and operated by your opponent.

Wow. Where I come from, 67% is what is known as a “super-majority”.

Unless the gov blows it, this will not go well for the dems.

TRUE STORY:

A co-worker of mine, whom I have had BIG arguments with about (she is an EXTREME LIBERAL, KOOL-AID DRINKER), thinks the Democrats in Wisconsin are being STUPID. She says they ought to come back and make a stand, win or lose.

I couldn't believe it when she and I agreed on the Demon-rats in Wisconsin.

This is backfiring BIG TIME!

What is their reason for fleeing? Is it because if they vote in favor of the bill, they’ll lose all the union money in their campaign coffers? Or is it because they fear that if they vote against the bill, they will lose a bunch of votes for their re-elections in 2012? - They appear to be caught between a rock and a hard place. Poor babies!

Since when did Democrats worry about doing what is right?
They are owned by the unions.

I have no idea what their reasoning is for fleeing. The local dem rep now says she will not accept payment for her services while she is in Urbana. But in the next sentence , she assures us all that she is still working for us.

It is very confusing to me.

What is their reason for fleeing?

The Democrat House members in Indiana fled to Urbana because of a right to work bill that advanced out of a house committee. The Republicans let that bill die and agreed not to bring it back this session. The Democrats responded with a list of 11 bills, pretty much the entire legislative agenda, that they said had to be taken off the table before they would return. The 11 bills included Charter Schools, vouchers, elimination of automatic payroll deductions for public employe unions, etc. In short, what the voters voted for in November.

The Dems got the win they asked for and then asked for everything. Not sure how they can walk back from that now and save face. (Not that I care if they do, just a very interesting political move.)

“It is very confusing to me.”

I suppose that’s their idea. Obama has generated mass confusion in general.

I think the Democrats don’t want to vote on the bill because they’re damned if they do and damned if they don’t. If they vote against it, the union bigwigs will love them but the voters won’t re-elect them in 2012. If they vote for the bill, the union bigwigs will be mad at them but the voters *might* re-elect them in 2012. - Taxpayers are sick of this union incestuous relationship with the Democrat Party and Obama.
