My experience is to the contrary.
They come to be educated and learn to be citizens of a world much larger than the Arabian Peninsula. To be sure there are some who have problem with the freedom and all pervasive sin but they are far from typical. A vast number of American students can’t stand the temptations of large state universities and are home by the end of the first semester and the first year.
It was recognized long long ago by Saudis that American community colleges were an inexpensive source of a good education and free from the temptations of the large state universities, at least for the first year or two. They take advantage of that opportunity. There are even recruiting efforts by community colleges familiar with such students and anxious to have full time tuition paying students.
The person is question is atypical.
I'm sure that is true. But the fraction of "atypicals" is much higher from Muslim nations than from say, Russia, or the countries of South and Central America. Thus people from Muslim countries should undergo much more in depth screening than those from places were not nearly such a high percentage of the populace hates our guts.
