This is interesting because usually China doesn’t give a rat’s rear about losing a couple of thousand people.

There are two obvious reasons. (1) They will need the engineers to start up production again after the riots are over, regardless of who wins. (2) They may not care if they get killed, but a hostage crisis would be very embarrassing. And at the moment China lacks the ability to project power outside the Western Pacific. A bunch of Islamic fanatics holding hostages could ruin the super dragon image they have been carefully building up over the past decade.

Is our gov getting our people out?

In a word, no. Obama has no plan, has moved no assets into position, and hasn't even called on our people to be ready to move out. As with everything this government touches it has become a total CF.

“A bunch of Islamic fanatics holding hostages could ruin the super dragon image they have been carefully building up over the past decade. “

On the other hand, it would give them the perfect excuse to test their military abilities and gain a foothold on the African continent. They would likely succeed in freeing them and showing the world just how nasty they can be towards an enemy. It would also be good for domestic patriotism.
