Is ‘Project Gunwalker’ reason for Traver hearing delay?
Gun Rights Examiner ^ | 20 February, 2011 | David Codrea

“I’ve noted before that lead times make magazines poor places to discuss developing news,” this correspondent wrote in “When enforcers have an agenda,” the Rights Watch column for the April 2011 issue of GUNS Magazine. The subject was the nomination of Andrew Traver to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the concession was necessary due to the months between writing an article for a magazine and the time that elapses until it is published.

By the time this reaches you, it may be a done deal. Obama may even bypass Senate confirmation and make a recess appointment. But while the outcome of this particular development may be hazy, one thing could not be more clear: We don’t want a fox in charge of minding the henhouse.

The latter observation hasn’t changed. Neither has the limbo status of this particular nomination.

Mike Vanderboegh at Sipsey Street Irregulars offers an assessment from one of his sources:

They are NOT going to schedule Traver hearings because he can't possibly answer questions Grassley has, so Leahy shut it down.

That they have not been scheduled is easily confirmable.

This is a scandal that can blow up in the Administration's face. The question is: Does the new media have enough clout to force this story our in the face of MSM stonewalling and coverup?
