No stranger to the slopes
It won’t be the first lady’s first time on skis. She took daughters Sasha and Malia for a quick trip to Liberty Mountain Resort, in Carroll Valley, Pa., in February 2010. It was the first time on skis for the first daughters, according to Anne Weimer, marketing director at Ski Liberty.
During an interview posted by Liberty Mountain, the first lady was asked about some her favorite hot spots. Instead, she talked about a cool spot.
“We discovered skiing. My girls had never been skiing,” she said. “With a couple hours, you’re skiing.”
Ski Liberty is 60 minutes from the White House.
“You can go from 60- and 50-degree weather to being on a slope. Not too many places in this country you can do that and still be at the seat of power.
It’s kind of cool,” she said in the interview.

VP Biden planning to vacation in Key Largo

KEY LARGO — U.S. Vice President Joe Biden will reportedly vacation in Key Largo this coming weekend.
“The Secret Service came by the ambulance building last week to contact us and say the vice president will be here,” Donald Bock, chief of the Key Largo Ambulance Corps, told the Free Press on Monday.
“They did not say where except to say he would be staying in the Key Largo area.”
When dignitaries travel, the Secret Service typically contacts local paramedics, fire and law enforcement authorities in advance, said Islamorada Fire Chief William Wagner III, who helped facilitate visits to Upper Matecumbe Key by George H.W. Bush when Bush was vice president in the 1980s.
Though Bock confirmed the Secret Service had been in contact with the ambulance corps, other safety agencies in Key Largo didn’t want to discuss Biden’s reported Key Largo visit when contacted by the Free Press Monday.
“I am not at liberty to reveal that information,” Key Largo Volunteer Fire-Rescue Department Chief Sergio Garcia said.
