When a Governor Gets Guts…

Wisconsin: It’s game time. Brinkmanship. Call it what you want. But today, an elected Governor is forced to deal with a matter soon to hit other states if it hasn’t already. It is more than about unions. It is about America coming to terms with a long standing policy that has crippled states and even nations into bankruptcy: allowing a non-elected body to bypass a legislature and determine how much wealth they receive from a public treasury.

Not to blemish his formerly hidden persona, the person who recently stated “We must live within our means” and “debate with a more civil tone” has taken sides with the guilds that continue to plunder the wealth of a state, and even send in his own minions to elevate the chaos. Why not? After all, it’s better than paying attention to the numerous Washington policies from this administration that has brought this nation to the brink of collapse, the next civil war or both.

What? Isn’t it about time someone said it?

The aforementioned may be avoided, but only those opposed to mob-rule stand fast in the face of intimidation, threats, and a propaganda machine (formerly known as media) that has thrown their lot in with the mob. They are so committed to the cause, even physical and sexual assaults (as we learned from Egypt) will not deter them from the ultimate goal - I’ll let the reader determine what that goal is. Of course the elected representatives of this “mob”(the minority) have decided to escape their duty by remaining in hiding; thus encouraging the insurrection with their absence.

Over the recent weeks, some well-meaning Americans have been intimidated and have cowered under “the mob” and their tactics. The “mob” now believes that these tactics have proven effective enough to expand their operations into other areas. They will take their “street heat” directly into the face if elected members, even their families until their targets back down in fear – not of public opinion or the wrath of an electorate – but “the mob” itself. It will only get worse until someone - political executive and/or the people – takes them on directly.

Governors, Real Americans: are you paying attention?

If I were the Governor of Wisconsin, this would be the decree I would read from my office:

“…To the Good Citizens of Wisconsin (other Governors, fill in your state name for future reference):

As you know, I was elected to help put our state finances in order. You are now witnessing a great deal of the cause, symptoms and results of such financial imbalances. Among the reasons they behave in this fashion is because it hasn’t been made clear who pays their salaries. Regrettably, now it is time to demonstrate it to them:

Starting tomorrow, I am asking all tax paying residents of this state to withhold their state taxes in escrow – that is their own accounts, their homes, even under their own pillows until decreed otherwise by this office. And to enforce this policy, I as governor will grant an Official Pardon to any tax-paying resident that does not pay any amount owed to the State of Wisconsin in any form during this emergency. To be clear: There will be no punishment from this office for anyone in this state refusing to pay state taxes during this time period. Existing funds in the state’s treasury shall be used to ensure a Republican form of government, as outlined in our state and national Constitutions. When I have determined that those derelict in their duty as State Senators return to carry out their sworn duties, I will rescind this emergency. Thank you, and good night….”

Think about it. Then think about how long it would take “the mob” to hunt down their own senators, and drag them back to the state capitol – even against their will if needed.

After all, the mob was calling for a state shut down, weren’t they?

Some may call this extreme, but when adults begin acting like children, they should be treated as such. They don’t want to play fair – take away their candy. These actions would take a governor with guts, since his opposition would make the character assassinations of Sarah Palin seem mild in comparison. He will most assuredly need additional security for his family’s protection.

The bottom line is that a message must be sent that we as tax-paying Americans have had enough. Government is not a mere “jobs program” or an institution built so a few can steal from the masses and call it legal. Nor can mob-rule become an acceptable form of Constitutional government. If we sit on our hands and do nothing, it will only get worse. Someone somewhere must take a stand against the mobs – and especially those that support and encourage them from on high.

Stand up, Governors. Stand up, America. 2012 may not get here soon enough.

Americans are going to have to stand up and finally take on the unions. The government isn’t going to do it. Not THIS government.

After watching our petulant man-child sissy today, I am afraid it is the Government that needs stood up to. Little barry thinks he has a knife fight going......

Excellent post, jimjohn.
I am very proud of Scott Walker and the GOP legislators from my home state of Wisconsin. They are trend setters and should be commended for standing up to Obama’s union thugs.

So impressed with this, I posted it at my site, The Radio Patriot.

Been writing about this for two days. Adding your thoughts to the collection.

http://radiopatriot.wordpress.com/2011/02/18/stand-up-governors-stand-up/

Tonight I interviewed David Hale, the Rockford ILL Tea Party coordinator who videotaped the two Wisconsin Democrat senators he caught at that motel in Rockford.

Big Tea party rally scheduled for tomorrow at the Madison State capitol. Line’s drawn, bayonets affixed, the game is on. Brinksmanship, indeed.

Thank you for your thoughtful piece. Everyone should send a copy to their governor.
