Obama is trying to use the fear tactic on the elderly and disabled - no social security checks. Can you imagine if this did happen how many old people would be pissed off. In the event of a government shutdown, Republicans should, the day after, unveil a clock along the lines of the national debt clock.
“Today it is 9 days since the government shutdown, and we have saved $100,000,000 in that time” and so forth.
Make it flashy and camera friendly, and let the public get an idea of how much our government spends on a daily basis. Perhaps they’ll look around and see that not much has changed, and wonder where and why that money is being spent AT ALL.
