I liked it when the Feral gubberment was shut down in 1995 and I’d like it even more today. A shutdown will fly very well today. People are on the warpath over public employee compensation

Oboingo better be careful. He shuts it down and it will blow up in his jug eared face

Obama is trying to use the fear tactic on the elderly and disabled - no social security checks. Can you imagine if this did happen how many old people would be pissed off. Look at all the old senators and congressman who get social security and their salary from the government. Conyers, McCain, Reid, Biden (Vice President) and Kerry are just a few

Direct Depost is the status quo of Social Security beginning in March or is it may 2011 all remaining social security recipients whom been receiving it in the mail will have to have a bank deposit established.

So GOP call his bluff. Ask your represntative to send out an assurrance that this will not happen if a government shutdowns does occur.

You mean the bureaucratic mess that seizes more and more power over our lives might stop for a time? Oh Heaven forbid!

Barry probably thinks that a gov’t shutdown means he won’t have to work at all.

Golf, ice cream, and Reggie Love/hoops. What’s the downside?

Are Republicans going to hold to their guns?

I’m sure the media is gearing up - writing the horror stories of the government shutdown as we speak.

Is it going to work though? Are we going to have 1995 part 2?

In the event of a government shutdown, Republicans should, the day after, unveil a clock along the lines of the national debt clock.

“Today it is 9 days since the government shutdown, and we have saved $100,000,000 in that time” and so forth.

Make it flashy and camera friendly, and let the public get an idea of how much our government spends on a daily basis. Perhaps they’ll look around and see that not much has changed, and wonder where and why that money is being spent AT ALL.

Shut it down, asap! The last government shutdown should still be ongoing, today, IMHO!

...the Republicans are threatening us with on national TV, Meet the Press or one of those dandies or whatever the show was. The Republican leader was asked, and I'm paraphrasing, 'is there going to be a government shutdown?' and he wouldn't respond to the question.

I can't even articulate my level of disgust with this jack-hole. It claims thate Rs are threating but when asked the Rs did not answer the question. But this ignorant morons logic, he and Gibby were threatening us everytime they do not answer a question.

The resident of thewhite hut wants to shut down government?

Sounds good to me, as long as the military still is on duty, shut the whole thing down.

I wouuld applaud it highly. Like many Americans, I do not see this government following the will of the people. Shut it down for good , I would applaud that too!

We can start all over from scratch, using our Constitution instead of a “living document.”

I am all for it. It is the first time I have agreed with the resident in the white hut about anything.
