Obama Refers To Himself As "The Gipper" In Farewell To Gibbs

President Obama recounts an anecdote about the 2004 Democratic National Convention at White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs' final press briefing:"The most challenging problem was what tie to wear. And this went up to the very last minute I mean, 10 minutes before we were about to go on stage we were still having an argument about ties. I had bought five, six ties. And Michelle didn't like any of them, Axelrod didn't like a couple of them -- him being one of the best dressed men in the world. So we really valued his opinion."And then somebody -- I don't remember who it was -- turned and said, 'You know what? What about Gibbs' tie? What about Gibbs' tie? That might look good.' And, frankly, Robert didn't want to give it up because he thought he looked really good in the tie. But eventually he was willing to take one for the gipper, and so he took off his tie, and I put it on. And that's the tie that I wore at the national convention."

Not even the right metaphor, but nonetheless...where does the hyper-intelligent label come from?
Dude is a functioning retard.

First, I am not so sure he was trying to compare himself to Reagan here.
Second, if he was trying to use a Reagan reference to himself, it is just bait to drive us crazy. It is best to ignore it and move on.

‘take one for the gipper’?
That’s wrong on so many levels!
What context is Obama the ‘gipper’? Did he make a movie?
Wasn’t it ‘win one for the Gipper’?
So, ‘take’ one for the gipper must be Chicago slang?

I heard that remark. It REALLY pissed me off.
It was not meant as a comparison to President Reagan. It was meant as a slap in the face to conservatives. That was pretty clear.
After that, my hate springs eternal.

“Carter, Jr.” accords the usurper far more respect than he can possibly ever be entitled to. We're talking about a pathetic phony loser here who should be frog marched right out of the Whitehouse and into federal prison.

It’s “win one for the gipper” and “take one for the team”. Not “take one for the gipper”.

What I'd refer to him as wouldn't pass muster on any planet with higher life forms, much less Free Republic..........
"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."
