U.S. slaps down Suleiman

Egyptian Vice President Omar Suleiman has ticked off the Obama administration, but the White House is sticking to its position that he's in charge of the transition to a new government that it won't determine.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs made it clear at his daily briefing for reporters that the administration strongly disagrees with Suleiman's contention that Egypt isn't ready for democracy, calling them "particularly unhelpful comments." In the language of diplomacy, that's a major slam.

In case anyone doubted what that meant, Gibbs declared: "I speak for the president of the United States."

If Egypt isn’t ready, Iraq isn’t either, a trillion, or whatever we spent there notwithstanding. So I can see why..

For the first time in my life, I’m embarassed to be an American. Can this adminstration be any more inept?

Jimmy Carter must have the biggest grin of his life on his face. Obama has saved him from being the worst US President.

Maybe 0 can resign here in the US, and go be president of Egypt. I think he’d like it over there better.

I know I’d like it better if he was over there.

Making ‘particularly unhelpful comments’ is a Gibb’s specialty.

We will just quietly sell Britain's nuclear secrets to Russia, and not-so-quietly try to destabilize the government of our Egyptian ally.

Nothing to see here ... nothing to see. Smartest guy in the room is in charge. We're doing great. Really.

As much as I loathe Gibbs, I can’t blame him for the lack of a consistent message coming from the White House. It seems like complete chaos, and I don’t mean what is happening in Egypt.

So, who did Baghdad Bobby have in mind?

They are waiting for Jay Carney to replace Gibbs. He has much more experience dealing with crazy statements coming from Biden.

Gibbs just might have well said that the president supports the MB to come into power.

Obama has contradicted himself several times since this incident has happened. As events change, so does his message. His words mean nothing.

Big mistake for not supporting Suleiman I think that will leave the door open for the MB.
