Did Lanny Breuer play a role in ‘Project Gunwalker’?
Gun Rights Examiner ^ | 5 February, 2011 | David Codrea

A source who has been providing information that has consistently panned out in the ongoing “Project Gunwalker” investigation is claiming that Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice, Lanny Breuer, was party to the decision to overrule the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive’s representative to Mexico. Former attaché Darren Gil reportedly advocated informing the Mexican government of gun monitoring operations that resulted in “Project Gunwalker” allegations, and has since resigned his post, one sources say is now to be filled by current ATF Phoenix Field Division Special Agent in Charge William Newell.

Mike Vanderboegh at Sipsey Streeet Irregulars has posted a detailed background on Breuer along with his analysis of this latest allegation. Might this new allegation help explain why whistleblowers would want to avoid normal Department of Justice channels and seek Congressional protections?

Breuer was first mentioned in this column as the DOJ force behind the 2010 SHOT Show bust:

We can ask how this is likely to boost the career of the guy ramrodding the operation, Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer of the Criminal Division, an Obama pick who gained notice on the national stage helping represent Bill Clinton during his impeachment.

Was the alleged decision to not inform the Mexican government the beginning of a directed cover-up effort that resulted in the death of a Border Patrol agent? Will this be explored in the Senate investigation?

And will they look at apparent disconnects between these allegations and what Breuer and colleagues told the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform in July of 2009?

This Strategy directs Federal agencies to increase coordination andinformation sharing with State and local law enforcement agencies, intensifies national efforts to interdict the southbound flow of weapons and bulk currency while stopping illicit contraband from being trafficked north, and calls for continued close collaboration with the Government of Mexico in efforts against the drug cartels. [Emphasis added]

Reporters wishing to pursue this new lead should need no help reaching the Assistant Attorney General or his staff, not that I would expect anything corroborative to be disclosed--except under oath.

But it couldn't hurt to ask.

So, while Obama himself has been quiet on the gun control issue, the Department of Justice and the ATF have been quite busy conducting illegal operations.

The ATF probably has been doing these illegal operations for awhile.
And they couldn’t wait to tell Obama once he was enthroned.

Lanny A. Breuer is a serial violator of the 2nd Amendment, and the head of an armed gang dedicated to the violation of American's civil rights.

Like all Soeotoro regime operatives, if patriots were running the government, he would be in prison.

Today is a good day to die.
I didn't say for whom.
