It’s too bad Christina Aguilera didn’t read The Star-Spangled Banner before The Super Bowl.

I cringed quite a bit watching that. Who the hell picks these idiots to perform anyway?

That was good, but... There was still time to read at least the Bill of Rights before the obliterated anthem.

They named all the people speaking but somehow I missed the old guy in the chair with all the Marines around him. Who was he?

I don't know but I hate it when the singer decides to make it his or her own.
Just sing the damn song the way it's supposed to be sung!

I believe it was Art Donovan.

Yes, they read the entire documentThey read the Introduction and Preamble, not the entire document.
To: eyedigress
It was better than not reading it.

As they introduced that segment they said they’d done it every year since 9/11. I don’t know as this is the first SB I’ve watched in years.

My jaws dropped when I first saw that. I've never seen something like that on TV, much less when they knew a good portion of the country was watching.
Even the NFL knows which way the revolutionary winds are blowing!

Uh, why does Jim Plunkett appear with “El Centro Latino”, the center at Stanford which is run by the treasonous and virulently racist MEChA?

I was a bit astonished (given current culture) that Fox sacrificed several lucrative minutes of Super Bowl airtime to such a noble tribute.
The cameras also (briefly) focused on a Congressional Medal of Honor winner. It was great to see that, as so many are only awarded the medal posthumously.
Reminded me of this guy:

Given that my own children had never heard of him (thank you, public education), I gladly filled them in on his heroism.
