Anderson Cooper has left the country.
The CNN anchor, who was reportedly attacked by pro-government forces while covering the demonstrations across Egypt, is the latest in a rash of reporters to leave the country, where protests continue."It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to leave Egypt," he tweeted. "CNN continues to have many teams in place. It was a hard decision to leave."
Cooper, like a number of journalists in the region, was reportedly attacked by pro-Mubarak forces. A pair of New York Times journalists were reportedly held in an Egyptian prison overnight and numerous other journalists have reported being harrassed by police. But his story seemed to capture the attention of more Americans who tuned in breathlessly to see him broadcast from a hidden location, as well as tell his stories about being attacked by protestors and pro-government forces.

Early on the was a raw video on you tube that was universally snapped up by the media, it was the one with the green riot van circling under an over pass while a guy was firing a tear gas gun through a roof hatch. However, every news outlet cut the audio and talked over the video. They were busy writing the narrative very early on. In the raw video you hear shouts of “Allah Akbar” and that was just not in keeping with purist tangent they wanted to take the story on.
Later, the media visits and by that time they believe their own hype, they attempt to walk in among the narrative they created. Well, we all know how that turned out don’t we.
He must like it ruff
I always had a romantic vision about foreign correspondents...................I thought they NEVER left a story due to fear of bodily harm????
I guess I was wrong!
