Community radio station WBAI announced today that it will become the local host for Al-Jazeera English. The Qatar-based media outlet has faced severe limitations on broadcasting in the US since it launched its English language channel in 2006. Al-Jazeera broadcasts will now appear on 99.5 FM from 5am to 6am weekdays. WBAI management cited the events in Egypt as a primary motivation for putting Al-Jazeera on the air. "This week's on-the-scene reports from the protests in Egypt have been absolutely riveting," said Berthold Reimers, General Manager of WBAI.

10 years ago, I wanted Al Jazeera to broadcast in English. Silly me even emailed them to ask if there was an English broadcast. I wanted to understand why they killed 3000 people. *major eye roll* 10 years later, I don’t want them spreading their propaganda here in the US. MSNBC, CNN, and the alphabets are bad enough.

On BAI, Al Jazeera is going to seem like Rush.
To be fair, how is what Al-Jazeera broadcasts going to any different from the rest of the MSM?

When I want to snoop on the enemy camp’s communication, I tune into WBAI. Al Jazera might provide a bit of respite from the anti-American programming.
