Jeb Bush: National Review cover boy
The Buzz-From staff of the St. Petersburg Times ^ | February 03, 2011 | Adam C. Smith

National Review plants Jeb Bush on its forthcoming cover, looking at his productivity since leaving Florida's governor's mansion and, implicitly, fantasizing about another President Bush:

...Pundits continue to wonder whether this son and brother of presidents ever will seek the White House for himself. While they speculate, Jeb is quietly building a legacy as something other than the Bush who didn't reach the Oval Office. Governors everywhere boast of a desire to become "the education governor." As Florida's chief executive, Bush really was one - and not merely one among many, but by far the best. In 1999, when he took office, Florida schools were some of America's worst. "We were bumping along the bottom," says Bush. Today, almost a dozen years since Bush pushed his package of reforms, Florida is soaring near the top...

If God is truly a merciful God, then I hope He shows mercy upon the US to keep Jeb away from the presidential race.

....one thing that Molly Ivins had right was calling for an end to the “shrubs” on the American political scene.... wish all of the bushes would just bow out of the political scene.

Oh fer cryin’ out loud.

Can National Review at least avoid shilling for the Bushes this time?

I’m so tired of mushy pro-illegal Bushes that I’ll do anything I can within the Republican Party to make sure none of them ever hold office again.

Plenty of reason to dislike them... especially in the last few days.

I’m glad Gore was never President.

I’m glad Kerry was never President.

But, I don’t want another RINO in the White House.

He was our governor, and fairly decent one as governors go, but I am tired of one name politics. The KENNEDYS included......

Jeb thinks we need to move away from Reagan. I say we need to move as far away from the elitist, patrician, open borders RINO Bush family as possible.

With Rich “Pretty Boy” Lowry as editor, NR is nothing more than an establishment Republican house organ.

Jeb was an excellent governor of Florida and is probably the most conservative, best looking (he’s like his mother, big and hearty) and most articulate of the Bush family members.

He’d probably make an excellent candidate if he had a different last name. But there’s no way he could get elected now, between left-wing and right-wing BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome, for the few who may not know).

Glad I dont subscribe anymore, would have had to cancel.

The Bush family assassinated the Reagan revolution, love big government, and never met an apparatchik they didn't like.

No more country clubbers.
