Another day, another all time record high in commodity prices as the CCI (Continuous Commodity Index) did it yet again. Corn, wheat and soybeans all put in 30 month highs with wheat now having effectively doubled in price since June of last year.
Brent crude is now trading above $102/barrel and is now back to levels last seen in September 2008. Ditto for Unleaded gasoline. Coffee is at another 13 year high, sugar hit an astonishing $0.36/pound while copper added on more to its record high from yesterday. Cotton is near 140 year highs, last seen during the era following the War between the States...

The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
I think you are missing the point here Lori from Dan’s highlights. The world is going to be very upset with the US because of our monetary policy is going to starve them to death being that the US$ is the reserve currency and everything is priced in dollars for purchase and it’s been a nonstop injection of funny money which is driving up commodities prices looking for a return on investment with plenty of low cost dollars available. Some countries will not be able to afford to feed themselves as is transpiring now in real time.
The best I can make out from what he says is that he thinks it's some kind of religious sickness... But, I don't know, Larry may have a loose screw too.
A Big Mac meal today cost me over $6 !!! And I didn’t even super size it !
Recold cold in Texas (Thanks Al Gore) just killed my garden, there goes my food plan.
Here in San Diego today it was sunny, windy and a cool 65 degrees. Had one of the about 30 tangerines off my dwarf tree then ate an apple from my thoroughly confused recently planted med-temperature required to produce hybrid apple tree albeit small but tasty. Not bad for the middle of winter.
We wanted to buy a large can of ground coffee today but couldn’t find a co-signer.

...from what I understand, that dollar menu is going away soon.
“Coffee is at another 13 year high”
...I was at a Starbucks yesterday getting my “black medium, no cream” when I overheard a lib say “well, like Obama said, we can expect some rising prices. I don’t care how much I have to pay for my Starbucks coffee”.
I guess she thinks rising coffee prices are a good thing, since “Obama said so”.

Ahhh you and your sunny warm weather ... we don’t want to hear it! Today I have another 16” of “Global Warming” sitting on top of the already 30” of “Global Warming” in my yard (it was 2 degrees here in NH this morning).
Lots of cheap property down her in Florida, with a business friendly Gov.
But you still have the CA goverment to live under. ;-)
I get it believe me I post articles all the time about that I just thought it was pretty funny how Pimco’s Bill Gross is now speaking about the central banks.
I used to have nice orange trees, but I lost them two years ago along with my peach and pear trees to hurricane Ike. Lost the grape vines too. Gonna snow tonight that will pretty much finish off what’s left alive in the garden. Maybe the onions and carrets might make it. But the greens won’t. they can handle a light freeze which is the most we usually get here in S.E. Texas. But the last three nights we’ve been getting a hard freeze. Really loving this globals warming in south Texas.

Humm ... Florida is a bit too flat for me. the gun laws are almost as good as here in NH (basically we have none).
But a bit to hot in the summer, unless I can just become a beach bum on Key West.
