RIO GRANDE VALLEY - Federal investigators are now monitoring the disappearance of five men last November.
FBI officials tell CHANNEL 5 NEWS until they can find proof of a crime, they can not get involved in the case.
All five men were Americans who were travelling in Mexico.
One of the men, Luis Manuel Hernandez has family in the Valley.
His sister Estelle Hernandez says she's worried about her younger brother.
"Mi gran preoccupacion es el que esta muerte," she says.
Hernandez says she's asking for God's strength as she waits to know what happened to him.
Hernandez is just one of 113 americans that have been reported missing in Mexico since 2003.
One official says that number doesn't represent the actual number since many cases go unreported.
Anyone dumb enough to travel to Mexico better have life and burial insurance.
Most of the Americans who disappear in Mexico are Hispanic - of recent Mexican origin it would appear, to judge by the Spanish-speaking sister.
Do not let anyone in from Mexico that is coming in illegally and no one in legally until our unemployment is WAY WAY down!
I din no.
I’m sure Janet Incompetento has her crack border teams working on this as we post.
