According to the New York Post Adhami, 44, said being gay was a 'painful trial' which comes as a result of past trauma.
He said: 'An enormously overwhelming percentage of people struggle with homosexual feeling because of some form of violent emotional or sexual abuse at some point in their life. A small, tiny percentage of people are born with a natural inclination that they cannot explain. You find this in the animal kingdom at some level as well.'
Adhami was named Imam and senior adviser of the proposed mosque by Park51, the organisation behind it.
Fred Sainz, a spokesman for gay rights group the Human Rights Campaign, said the comments were ignorant and hateful, and questioned his 'greater judgement'.

Ihave a Great Niece and Nephew who are Homosexual. They were both molested by their father. He was related to the County Sheriff and his brother was a state police officer.He actually got unsupervised visitation after my Niece found what was going on and left him.
Today there isn’t even a court record of the case. All has dissappeared.
I believe Homosexuality starts from early homosexual experience with some creep also.

And that's probably why the Bible calls Homosexuality a "terrible" sin. It's because a portion of the homosexuals target kids. Not all homosexuals are pedofiles, but almost all pedofiles are homosexuals.
And in that way, it's like a virus. The more accepted in society it becomes, the more it spreads.

Moreover, girls are abused more than boys 2:1. Almost all offenders are men. Thus most pedophiles are heterosexual, by about 11:1.
But seeings as how homosexuals are much less than 9% of the population, it makes pedophilia more likely among a homosexual.
But if you have a boy child and a girl child and are fixated upon homosexuals as the likely offender against them, you have lost sight of the actual target.
Your girl is more than twice as likely to be abused as your boy, and almost certainly by a heterosexual man not a homosexual woman.
