If necessary, US enemies like Iran and Syria will use massive force, massacre the protesters, jail the opposition and execute them, etc. They will get a pass from the rest of the world because they are anti-US. Only nominal US allies like Egypt will be held to the strictest standard, i.e. kill one protester and you are illegitimate and must be overthrown.
This is now the official Obama standard too, apparently.
