I thought they were ‘ordered’ to return the artifacts by one of their courts. ? Will have to run some research I suppose.

If it wasn't for the British, Egypt wouldn't have any antiquities left. They would have all been looted from the tombs and sold at the flea markets. It was the Brits who put them in museums and gave them value to begin with. Stupid Egyptians!
