While a number of states now face serious budget shortfalls, most voters continue to oppose federal bailout funding to help them out.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 26% of Likely U.S. Voters believe the federal government should provide bailout funding for states with serious financial problems. Fifty-three percent (53%) oppose individual state bailouts, and another 21% are undecided.

Seems like there are plenty of things the majority of voters oppose. Problem is....they happen anyway.
Majority opposes it? Well then it’s a slam dunk...

I have trouble believing that the Tea Party dominated Republican House is really going to vote for transferring money to New York, California, and especially Illinois.
...and if they don’t vote for it, it don’t happen.

heard it said today that if a state goes bankrupt, they can no longer be a state, but they can be a territory, with no voting rights in congress, etc. wouldn’t that be a thing of beauty?

That would be precious...but somehow I don’t see that happening.

We should under several conditions. 1) All states getting money have to dissolve their municipal unions. 2) All states getting money have to be mandated as “right to work” states. 3) All bailout money must be repayed in full. 4) All states have to show their books balanced to zero debt, minus the payback before recieving bailout money. 5) No bailout money is to be used for salaries, bonuses or payouts.
The trouble with bailouts or freebies is those receiving show up again and again when the money runs out for another bailout or freebie. One, like me, can only pray for wisdom for myself and those who issue the bailouts or freebies. Since the majority is headed to the once minority to become the majority, Ben Franklin may have said it best. When the majority understand they can vote to raid the treasury, the Republic will be lost....or some such similar words Ben said.
This is what the debt limit debate is about. Raise it and the government can keep spending and bail out the states. Keep it as is and there’s going to be pain somewhere.
All i can say is,its about time.
Indeed. The alcoholic is out of booze. So give him a bottle and tell him the liquor store is open 24/7. Riiiiight.
