Bullshit. If you wanna be an American, speak English.

Fiorello LaGuardia, the great (Republican) mayor of New York City, used to make his campaign speeches in Italian, Yiddish and Chinese.

AFAIK DeMint is the only other Congress-critter who had the guts to call out the 0bambi/Hitlery Commie Cabal for trying to throw Honduras to the lions.

(My memory may fail me on this account but I would be amazed if even three more stood up.)

If a person does not want to speak English then they are a lessor American.

What does that make someone who can't spell "lesser"?

“Spanish language media? WTH is that?”

It is an alternative universe where the truth does not exist.

I was kind of hoping it would be Rubio too when I saw the headline. I’m pretty sure he would rip on 0baMao’s economic nonsense which is something that will hit home with any audience.

Ditto the Diaz-Balart brothers. The whole Miami cuban-american clique. Be an American politician and i think they are a lot less anti-Castro than most people think.

They are like that Rat or Raton Mel Martinez.

I hope Rubio is not the same but loads of gringo RINOs are the same way.

I like having multiple responses to Obama. Each response increases our chances of getting our message out to the people. Given that the GOP rarely speaks up for itself, I’ll gladly take Ros-Lehtinen’s reponse even though she is not perfect on the issues. How many of our Congresscritters have perfect Conservative records?

I do hope Rubio will give the Spanish address next year. He’s a dynamic speaker.

For that matter, if we have members willing to translate the GOP response in other languages to targeted communities, even better. Vietnamese, Swahili, Portuguese...I don’t care.

I agree. The willingness to do this is one of the reasons the Dems have gotten ahead among immigrants.

I always have to think how it would be if I had to flee the US and I was part of a large English-speaking community living in, say, some French-speaking part of the globe. Even if I understood French perfectly and spoke it, I'd appreciate the gesture if a French-speaking candidate addressed me in English.

I wouldn't want to be trapped in the English-speaking ghetto, the way the Dems trap immigrant groups here, so I'd learn the local language. But I would feel kindly towards a fluent second generation bi-lingual speaker who wanted to address me in Englsh with the support of the party.

"Fiorello LaGuardia, the great (Republican) mayor of New York City, used to make his campaign speeches in Italian, Yiddish and Chinese."

I guess there's a point in there somewhere, but since all those listening to LaGuardia were in America, legally, hoping to become American Citizens, we're talking apples and oranges here....

I guess there's a point in there somewhere,

The point is that naturalized citizens usually speak their first language better than English, so, if you want their votes, you sometimes campaign in languages other than English. There are a lot of Americans who are here legally and who are entitled to vote but whose first language is Spanish. Not reaching out to them is foolish.

"entitled to vote but whose first language is Spanish. Not reaching out to them is foolish."

The mentality out in the REAL world in this country today is to vote for who will do you the most good....aka; handouts.

Until the Party sticks to Principles, upon which this once-great Country was founded, trying to appeal to those who want nothing to do with Constitutional principles, or hard work and self-reliance, it's just a waste of time to try to appease them.

Just as 95% of blacks vote Democrat without caring WHO is the candidate, so go the votes against Republicans by those who could care less about The Constitution OR being self-reliant, without getting handouts from others' earnings.

Deal with it.

Maybe he means that they are Americans who rent property to a tenant...
