Did you notice that "Goebbles" pronounced [gœ-buhls] is pronounced by all talking heads as "GeR bels?" If they can't make the German pronounciation, "Go-bells" is good enough.

I bet you our Pah-keeestani 0b0z0 would pronounce perfectly after a month of training.
I think the oe gives “r” sound you’re hearing. Also, the “s” at the end would be somewhat of a “z”.
Of course, I never studied German language except for my time in the many Gast Hausen when I was stationed there. I may not have heard everything distinctly and clearly over the beer.
