WASHINGTON - Federal law-enforcement officials have recovered "reams of videotape" from surveillance cameras at the Safeway shopping center where U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was shot, video that they said leaves no doubt about how the gunman methodically went about killing six people and wounding 13 others.

His story, as it stands right now, is that the injuries on his back and knee came from being grazed by ricocheting bullets, that he left the scene of his own volition under his own power and headed home, then decided to drive himself to the hospital and seek treatment in the emergency room.

Presumably at the emergency room he told his story. He admits that he was not actually directly struck by a bullet.

These two stories conflict. One said he was taken to the hospital and the other says he drove himself. I can't find the original story I read but it was a first person quote saying that he drove himself to the hospital.
