Nah. They’ll blame on “George Bush’’ and “Sarah Palin’’. These kids don’t get it and won’t ever.
Won’t deny pot as a factor but booze is still the most damaging and far easier for kids to get.
Maybe this is due to the liberal policies being taught in colleges???
“The overzealous use of meds for real or imagined mental/emotional issues...Todays younger kids need to get out of the house, play outdoors, create their own entertainment, etc... and be allowed to GROW. This society has created a real monster and a lot of it has come from the schools, too.”
—It’s all so bizarre, really: Students who really should’ve been identified as having mental disorders (Loughner, the VT shooter, etc.) aren’t, and kids who probably are fine- and simply need adjustments in the areas you mention- are being drugged up. It’s like some twisted science fiction movie.
I read some liberal board earlier today that was blaming the decline of Detroit on..... REPUBLICANS!!!!
lol
Yep, the Republicans which have NEVER been in charge there, are somehow to blame!
*shakes head*
As a property owner it was shocking how many students started claiming they NEEDED their pet because of medical reasons and because of the ADA I couldn't keep them from having it.
I think more people are in college today than ever, and college is seen as a theraputic place for mentally ill men and women. It is sort of a halfway house for the mentally ill.
It’s probably a culture of diagnosis, not more crazy people in college or even from a lowering of entrance standards. The Left would say it’s “increased awareness.” /s
The kinds of courses that produce useful educations are in engineering, math, and sciences — and they are HARD. A Bachelor of Science, BSCS, BSE, BSME, BSAE, BSCE, BSEE produce educated people. Business Administration, not so much. Sociology, Philosophy, Psychology, Social Science, Education — pretty much fluff and not suited for many jobs outside academia.
College educations are very overrated. Of every 100 students, perhaps only 40 are probable college material. However, not having a college degree is seen as an impediment. It should not be.
Kids who have no interest in college should go to a trade or vocational school that prepares them for an actual, real world job. Most college courses (except science-based ones) regard the real world as some kind of special case.
Far too charitable, but clever and very nicely said.

In the past there was a wider range of acceptable odd behaviors and a wider range of moods accepted as normal. Also there was less liability issues so medical people would not have to “prove” that they did something, in order to defend themselves against malpractice when there is a suicide.
A depressed college student is the bete noir of mental health practitioners everywhere. Liability issues scare everyone.
