Lets get on with repealing Obamacare.

I agree. Was not today they were to have the vote in the house? The media would have destroyed that of course, drawing parallels with the shooting victims and all....

...of course, if the 112th congress folds under pressure from the liberal media every time they want to push THEIR agenda ...then the Nov. elections were just a waste of time...business as usual.

Put away the hankie...git r done!

What should congress do?

De-fund

Dept of Education
Dept of Energy
Dept of Homeland Security
Dept of Housing & Urban Development
National Endowment for the Arts
Selective Service System
Tennessee Valley Authority
National Public Radio
BATF
AMTRAK

That should keep them busy for a week. This list is just a beginning, and is not in priority order.

Boehner should take them up on it and introduce legislation making it a crime to shoot a member of congress.

Sure, while they're at it, they should outlaw schizophrenia, jock itch, and peckerwood Democrat sheriffs.

I believe it is already a law - hence the charge against Loughner:
"Loughner is charged with one count of attempted assassination of member of Congress, two counts of killing an employee of the federal government and two counts of attempting to killing a federal employee."

All of those seem like no-brainers to scale back to cut entirely except for the Selective Service System. What is the beef with that one?

Pass all the laws necessary to transform the world into the sinless, crimeless, heaven-on-earth totalitarian progressive Utopia the idiots on the socialist left have been trying to social engineer and manipulate us into for over a century because it worked so well in -- for example -- Cuba.

It seems these communists are very, very slow learners. Maybe Obozo will come to his senses some day. Sorry, but we can’t wait 50 years so what say we get rid of his sorry ass in 2012?

Most of the problems we have can be traced directly back to congress “doing something”. At this point, the less they do and the less time they are in session the better off we all are.

It’s useless. There will never be another draft.

Congress doesn’t need to do anything at all. The last thing we need are reactionary policies to defend America from one guy who is already in custody.

I don’t want Congress to do anything in response to the Giffords shooting. I want Congress to get back to work on the purported Republican agenda.

What should congress do?

Nothing. Law enforcement and the courts have everything they need to deal with this incident.

Ummm, what should Congress do?
Its not like murder, assault with intent, brandishing a firearm, discharge of a firearm in city limits, etc., isn’t already illegal, or anything.

Right you are. Knee jerk legislation gave us the TSA. When Congress gets in a hurry we get TARP and that worthless stimulus package. I think they all need to be on permanent vacation.

You are correct. These are all federal crimes, to which, I am sure, the state of Arizona will add murder and assault charges of the ordinary kind.

There is nothing for Congress to do. A whack job killed 6 people and he will get a fair trial and a clean needle. That is why we have laws agains’t murder and mayhem.

Congress needs to get on with the business of restoring the Constitutional Republic and saving the country from financial ruin.

Hey I got a great idea.

Congress should pass a new gun law that says you can’t carry a gun within 1000 feet of an elected official. Yea, that will keep people from attempted assassinations, and those killers won’t want to break the law or anything.

Then if that doesn’t work we could make it illegal to say inflammatory things.

And then we could ban 30 round magazines, because if they are illegal then killers wouldn’t kill, right?

-SARC. (As if killing weren’t already illegal.)

IMO, I think Boehner is correct in not doing anything this week. There’s still too much hoopla over the Tuscon shootings. Better to let it die down, then move forward with their agenda.

I actually believe its a smart move right now.

My congressman was just elected. I would hope he has a chance to figure out what is going on before he has to start voting on things he may not understand yet.
