Were the heinous acts that occurred on Jan. 8 in Arizona the product of an isolated deranged mind, or were they the spark of something scarier with more violent implications?
According to California Democratic Rep. Bob Filner, its something on a much grander scale that people should take very seriously. On MSNBCs Wednesday night airing of The Last Word, host Lawrence ODonnell asked the U.S. representative for Californias 51st congressional district if there could be anti-Semitism involved in last weekends tragedy.
Congressman, this weekend when you saw what happened to Gabrielle Giffords, who you know well, you also know to be Jewish like yourself, you discover as the evidence unfolds that Mein Kampf is one of the shooters favorite books, ODonnell said. There had to be a feeling of this was coming.
As Filner explained, based on his wide-ranging experience including being active in last centurys civil rights movement and more recent events, the Tucson tragedy was something that was inevitable.
To me, I thought this was inevitable, Lawrence, Filner said. And to me, I had been active in the civil rights movements, the 50s and 60s. I have been in mobs. Ive been beaten up. These people were intent on violence. You didnt hear the words about anti-Semitic comments there. But only the intervention of police rescued me at that point. And my son and my granddaughter were scared to death. They were in the audience there just trembling. I went back to my civil rights roots to figure out how I would lay down and curl up.

Prior to President Barack Obamas address at a memorial service paying tribute to the victims at the University of Arizona, historian Douglas Brinkley said the tragedy would rank up with the Civil Rights Era events in Selma and Birmingham in the historic overview. However, Filner made that prognostication pale by comparison.
The next day, Lawrence, and also right after Gabbys shooting, there were blogs to say that clearly politics doesnt work for us because Filner the sneaky Jewish guy obviously defrauded us, and we have to go to violence. And here`s some AK-47s; here`s how you do sniper work. And that was repeated a couple days ago with when they said this is the start of the revolution, the shooting of Gabby Giffords. So this is not an isolated incident. Everybody who tries to put it off on a deranged individual I think is thats a political statement in and of itself, because they are absolving themselves of the responsibility of their words and their actions.
Nice tone
Right off the deep end...
Are these people ever happy? Do they ever smile? Is everything an outrage? When someone slaps them, do they slap back?
The wussification of America continues.
Talk is precious, action is cheap. I guess.
Look for another tragedy in the not-so-distant future that the left will use to reenact the “Fairness Doctrine” and shut down conservative talk radio and web sites. Then another event that will allow them to start targeting gun owners. After that, all bets are off.
....and I am not there to see it, do I still smile?
YES!
Filner is a white guy representing a district filled with illegals. Why doesn’t he step aside and let a Mexican represent Mexicans?
Filner is also the nut job that tried to violate FAA rules by not wanting to be treated like the masses on a United flight.
Filner, why should I pay for illegal’s healthcare, education and damage down by their crimes?
Drama
I want to know if he is exagerating his “experiences” in a mob. You know how these leftist politicians like to stretch the truth.
Riiiight...what revolutionary would choose an unknown and relatively inoffensive target like Gabrielle Giffords?
Bull Hockey.
I’ve seen a lot of stuff here on FR talking about an upcoming revolution.
By linking the actions of a deranged individual to differences in political opinions is also a political statement that says that if you disagree with the libtard view, then you should be silenced.
Mike
This bozo knows all too well the “revolution” began on November 2, 2010. It is why the left is so panicked. A peaceful revolution via the ballot box won’t work for them.
And, try as they might, Filner and the rest of the loony left cannot conceal that the majority of the political violence in the U. S. comes from the left: SEIU, Black Panthers (new or old), the animal rights groups, the environ”mental” groups, the Unabomber, the violence at military recruiting office etc etc etc, ad infinitum.
Those blogger-initiated revolutions are the scariest kind.
As we speak, they are already making excuses for the shooter.
They are saying he didn’t fully understand his actions in earlier encounters. if so, why was he not incarcerated in some way?
Now why is that? This leads me to believe something that I would rather not believe.
Seriously. Head first, with a triple gainer. I’ll give him points for distance, though.
I’m thinking they “jumped the shark” with this one,
and people will be suspicious of them trying to use the “next” tragedy to advance the leftist agenda.
The perp was obviously a nutbag with inherently (due to being a nutbag) leftist tendencies,
and had nothing to do with the right,
and it was painfully obvious that the left was trying to exploit the tragedy.
