Is the AEGIS going to be upgraded into an AESA or is it still a PESA system?

Yeah, I served on DDG-994, and I thought that ship had a lot more years left in her before they put it on the back burner...

At least it, and the other Kidd Class DDG’s are giving ChiComs fits...

“Unfortunately, this change occurred only after the Navy had seen fit to decommission 35 Kidd and Spruance class destroyers, five early Ticonderoga class cruisers and several dozen Los Angeles class attack submarines with much of their serviceable life remaining.”

Correction: CLINTON saw fit to decommission those ships. He balanced the budget on the backs of massive defense cuts, particularly in personnel. There weren’t going to be enough sailors to man those ships.

He also scrapped the Virginia class nuclear powered guided missile cruisers, which had less than 20 years of service on average.
