What is ‘oracle’?

Oracle is an expensive, commercial database system used to hold all the information FR stores.

Most of the internet is NOT run on such an expensive system. Moving FR to such a system would be controversial even if we were rich (which we're not.)

I don’t know why anyone would consider Oracle, except in specific circumstances. I’ve found SQL Server to be far more nimble and dependable for projects in the multi-million record range.

If I were creating a website it would be with the database Firebird which is free for commercial use.

http://www.firebirdsql.org/

2nd choice would be postgresql: http://www.postgresql.org/

3d choice would be php, Mysql.
