The Army is studying whether to open combat arms units to female Soldiers, the Army's top officer said Jan. 6.
"We're looking at revising the policy," Gen. George W. Casey Jr. told a breakfast gathering of the Association of the U.S. Army in Arlington, Va. "We've had some work going on for a while, and that'll double back up to the secretary, I would think, in the next couple of months." Women are currently barred from infantry, armor and Special Forces branches, Casey said.
He did not say whether the Army is considering opening up all three areas to women, but he did say the study looked at the possibility of women in infantry.

I believe Israel already tried that with very mixed success, if any.

Only if they have to pass the male PT test, have their own, all-female units, and most importanly, are subject to the SAME draft that men are.

I believe Israel already tried that with very mixed success, if any. A lot of liberal things have already been tried all over the world and here with mixed success, if any. It doesn't slow them down a bit.
If anything, they usually double down.

Who didn’t see this coming. The Liberal’s incremental march to fundamentally change western society marches on.

Hitler recruited children for the final defense of Berlin. The USSR had some women in combat units. So I guess we are stooping to the level of Communists and Nazi's in the depths of a world war.
I tell you, the repeal of DADT didn't just open the flood gates, it removed them forever. Get ready for more weirdness..

Well, with the gays along the women’s combat hairdos will always look fabulous.

Just modify the test. They've got that figured out. This has already been done in the US Navy to get women on ships. I've got a neighbor who is an old sea dog and he was in the Navy when women began to serve on ships. He told me that they couldn't qualify for fire fighting duty (a big deal in US Navy) due to not being able to pass strength test. So they just modified test (equivalent of dumbing down) so almost all women could pass.
Can some of you ex Navy guys verify this? This is coming from a neighbor and I haven't have the time to check this out but it sounds logical.

I don’t know about the Army but I was in The Marine Corps Infantry and I can NOT imagine women in the Infantry. The runs the humps the constant harassment the B.S.

Think female POWs.
Those women who were captured in the last 2 gulf wars did not fare too well in captivity.

The left wants to make the militay just another civilian jobs program.
Maybe next we’ll have ADA wheelchair ramps for
M-1 Abrams crew to get in the tank and a redesign of some man portable anti-tank weapons so midgets can use them, too.

Casey is big on diversity, first with muslims and now women in combat. Just between me and you(I don't want a lot of other Freepers to read this and flame down on me), but the upper echelon of officers in the military have been pretty liberal and into social experimentation inside the armed forces since the 1950s.
