I recall a corner sidewalk in downtown Detroit where a pool of vomit was frozen in situ and visible thru the ice for two weeks.

That image has stayed with me for almost thirty years -- and I couldn't wait to get out of town and back to Texas

I remember reading about a construction worker in Chicago working on a high-rise construction site. It was a bitter cold winter day. The worker picked up his gear and hollered to the foreman that he was going home to get his heavier coat. The supervisor yelled back "OK. Where's home?"

The worker yelled back "Houston".

A friend of mine lived in Chicago. In January, His family used to sleep all together in one room next to the fireplace.

Then Algores Global warming came and they opened a swimming pool and sold cold drinks in January.
