I don’t understand how postponing the work of the House of Representatives for a week is the proper show of respect to a wounded member.
IMO, extend condolences, don’t let last week’s momentum slip away, continue working to undo rat damage to our country.
I agree. I feel sorry about what happened, but we have to strke while the iron is still hot. This is like the opposing team calling a time out, just as the kicker is ready to kick a field goal
“Wounded?” Someone gets shot point blank in the head and you dismiss it casually like she had a knee rash. Rep. Giffords could very easily die.
I know enough about agonizing over the well-being of a family member to identify with Giffords - and what her family must be going through. Her children could lose their mother. She is in critical condition. You don’t seem to show much respect for the state she is in.
The affairs of this world can wait a week.
With all due respect, isn’t this a little OTT? Just imagine if the military shut down a week for every wounded soldier.
I’m not being hard nosed, but, I can’t understand this decision.
“I dont understand how postponing the work of the House of Representatives for a week is the proper show of respect to a wounded member.”
It’s not. It’s simply another example of the girly-men Republicans whimpering under their desks, hoping the mainstream media can find something nice to say about them.
Of course, they’re not going to give that week’s pay back to we-the-taxpayers, are they? I didn’t think so.
In the meantime, it takes away ALL of the anti-Obama momentum from last week AND clears the way for the repulsive Democrats to rail on for a solid week about how this whole thing could have happened if the “intolerant” right hadn’t been so “opinionated and devisive” (even though, of course, the right had nothing to do with it), and proceed in their full-fledged efforts to destroy us in any way possible - whether by trying to lay the blame on this with Sarah Palin (sheesh!!!!!) or crying crocodile tears and claiming “we must REALLY do something now to clean up talk radio!”.
Good goin’, Republicans.
