Five days before the Legislature convenes , representatives of civil rights, business and religious organizations sounded alarms about Arizona-style immigration legislation and other proposals that they say are anti-immigrant and would be harmful to Texas families and businesses.
"The xenophobic agenda has come to Texas," Adriana Cadena, a coordinator with the Reform Immigration for Texas Alliance, said at a Capitol news conference on Thursday. So stopping the flow of illegal aliens from entering Texas will be bad for Texas? Does that mean that when the Germans invaded France in 1940 it was actually good for France? You mean that whole D-Day thing was a big mistake?
Yeah, they might be boycotted by San Francisco and Montgomery County, MD. Some loss.

It would be nice to hear a credible case, instead of just hysteria. For example, it would probably hurt the business of baby-mill hospitals on the border that illegals use to birth anchor babies. It might hurt First Data’s business wiring money back to mexico. Farmers might have to pay a higher wage or automate some farming operations. Now add those costs up and compare them to the whole. But you would have to subtract the cost of welfare, health and education benefits to illegals. Somewhere in there is a net number.
But at least try to make a credible argument.
The terrible thing is that “fences don’t make good neighbors” Perry is likely to come down on the wrong side of this thing, now that the election is behind him.
The only alarm that needs to be sounded is the following Zogby poll of Mexican citizens (LINK):

When a vast majority of any people come to another country not accepting the sovereignty of that country or its right to control its own immigration, if words have any meaning, how can anyone honestly call them "immigrants" rather than "invaders?"

A few days ago, I am reading the Wiki page on Joe Satriani and read he joined the boycott Arizona campaign. I'm F'n pissed. I'm seriously thinking of bringing this up when I meet him. I will ask him if he will abandon Texas fans if/when we pass similar legislation.
