Source: Wheeler's phone found in home across the street

January 6, 2011

WILMINGTON, Del. - January 6, 2011 (WPVI) -- There is no indication that police are close to making an arrest in the murder of National Defense Consultant John Wheeler, whose body was found in a Wilmington landfill last week. But it does seem that they're learning more information day by day.

Action News has learned that the police now have Wheeler's cell phone.

A source tells us they found it in the house under construction across the street from Wheeler's home in New Castle.

Police have been looking into the possibility that Wheeler may have set off smoke bombs in the house last Tuesday night.

Investigators have removed floor boards near the kitchen sink in Wheeler's home and have surrounded the area with evidence tape....

Hope they are considering that his actions may also be part of someone “framing” him. Making him look quilty of actions that he didn’t do to cover his murderer.

Is this a believable clue?

I find this discovery rather convenient.

Secondly, assuming for a minute that Wheeler was stupid enough to plant incendiary devices in the home of a neighbor where he would be on a short list of suspects due to being involved in litigation with them, and assuming he’d be stupid enough to leave his cell phone there if he had done it, how does that end up with him murdered and dumped in a landfill?

The neighbor said they heard loud music/TV noise coming from the house and that was unusual and they thought they must have come back early.

Now it sounds like the muggers might have decided to invade the house....thinking he was dead.

Wow...this is so weird....

But still think it was a hit...paid for by the wife.....

I think the cops know a lot more than they are telling.

I just read on another news site, that he traveled to NYC to be with his wife for the holidays, even called a friend on the 26th to say he was stuck in NYC because of the storm.

The whole neighbor thing is so amateur. He doesn’t sound like the type of guy who would be sloppy, like leaving his cell phone and the rodent bomb thing is just stupid.

Maybe a resident of that home just found the phone in the street?

If I had found a phone, then yeah - I’d bring it home. No biggie.

Untill the FBI shows up.

(uh-ohhhh)

Too convenient placement for the cell phone. It’s a distraction.

The incendiary devices were rodent bombs like you get at Home Depot. Yes, they are flammable but they are problems because when you use one of those bombs, you need to seal the house, closed windows, doors, garage. Looking at this picture you can see the house doesn’t even have windows yet. Even I would know that you could not blow anything up or cause a fire by detonating then in the open...duh.

Just a thought....Had he been hit on the head in that house and the fire started to dispose of his body....Sure hope they are thinking at ALL possibilities.
