Geithner issues apocalyptic warning

Tim Geithner has message for the 112th Congress: The sky really is falling.

President Obama’s blunt Treasury secretary has dispatched a doomsday missive to congressional leaders, detailing the very bad things that will happen to the country – a default and global economic cataclysm – if the GOP fails to increase the debt limit to $14.29 trillion this spring.

Geithner, responding to a request by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), outlined a handful of painful short-term stopgaps to increase the “headroom” needed to fund day-to-day operations and fulfill the country’s fiscal obligations

I have an idea -

don’t deliver entitlement checks for two months.
That should do the trick.

Yeah, just like Hank Paulson, telling the CONgress there will be martial law if they don’t get the taxpayer to take the losses.

While, the bankers got to keep their bonuses!

Here is a fun animation of the housing crash mixed in with a very quick history of money.

It is pretty funny. Bit of Back to the Future, Twilight Zone, and ends with a nod to 300, only 29 minutes long.

Suck it up Timmy, No more money for you.

Cut Government programs, and eliminate failed departments like Energy and Education. That will fix a LOT right there.

What is up with Geithner’s neck? That spooky ‘twitch’ and offset angle is something I've never seen before. The FDA needs to put a label on whatever drug he is taking: “WARNING...may cause pencil neck twitch and twist..recommended to wear one larger neck size shirt.”

Drastic spending cuts to balance the budget - no need to raise the ceiling, because no extra borrowing will be necessary.

Exactly what went through my mind. It's always the end, violence, martial law, apocalypses etc... I'm so sick of these people.

Even GW bought into the Paulson crap. It's really the one thing that I heard during one of his interviews, with Rush I believe, that he believed we would have been thrown into an immediate depression if he didn't sign TARP. Which is utter nonsense.

They have found if they panic the public by using those terms, it's much easier to get their marxist agenda in place.

But we're on to you you sleazy ba*tards...If apocalypse comes Geithner, you better grab your fellow miscreants and run for your lives.

detailing the very bad things that will happen to the country – a default and global economic cataclysm – if the GOP fails to increase the debt limit to $14.29 trillion this spring.

So that means it is vastly more important that 10,001 things on the budget now? If (wait it should be a big IF) the Republicans have a spine, then the price for increasing the debt limit should be massive cuts in the government and maybe even something like a complete overhaul of the tax system with a single rate flat tax or a single rate national retail sales tax. After all, if the alternative is "global economic cataclysm", then retaining the National Asparagus Appreciation Council doesn't seem so important anymore.

Choice that the ones who created this doomsday are whining about the consequences of “their” actions. I would say We The People have proof positive of their incompetence, corruption, and resultant treason. How about this guilty Regime resigning today or Congressman Issa open a microscopic investigation into their actions today?

The headline briefly brought me to a parallel universe. I thought that the headline implied Geittner was warning Congress to substantially reduce spending. I was jolted back to reality when I read that Geittner was warning Congress about a failure to continue its wild spending patterns. Someone please wake me and tell me that it is all a bad dream.

“They Republicans are putting us in a vise,” Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) told POLITICO late last month.

I hope that's a typo.
