The anti-tax Americans for Tax Reform is launching a campaign to keep Republican legislators from putting Gov. Jerry Brown‘s proposed tax extensions on the June ballot, according to the Sacramento Bee.

All of but two GOP state legislators have a signed a no-tax pledge. ATR says it will consider a vote to put a tax proposal on the ballot a violation of that pledge.

Brown is expected to call for voters to consider an extension of temporary income and sales tax hikes, and vehicle license fees increases. While Democrats are in the majority in both chambers, some Republican votes would be needed because a two-thirds majority is need to call a special election for the proposed tax measures.

Moonbeam's grand plan, continue spending every single penny!

Truth:

1) Adopt a reasonable policy that any ‘percentage of budget’ restrictions apply to the income that the state actually receives.

2) Dump the platinum health benefits for state workers and replace it with basic health insurance that covers serious accidents and injury, and dump the freebie office visits and free drugs. Use half the money saved to bail out part of the pension funds, the other half to reduce the state deficit. Offer every state employee the option to continue on the platinum plans, if they pay the $1,900 a month difference out of their own pocket.

3) Reduce state employee vacations to 2 weeks per year, and observe only federal holidays as paid days off, and eliminate the personal day ‘holiday.’ Either that, or a 12% cut in salary.

There. Tax hikes can expire, vehicle fees don't have to be raised, and the state spending deficit is over with.
