Russ Feingold is going back to law school.

The former U.S. senator, defeated by incoming senator Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) in his bid for a fourth term, plans to join the Marquette University Law School faculty as a visiting professor or law.

Feingold will join the faculty beginning with the spring semester, the school announced Wednesday.

"Senator Feingold joins Marquette Law School with a substantial academic, legal and legislative background," said Joseph D. Kearney, Marquette's dean. "He will draw on all of this in working with students in their analysis of some of the most complex legal issues facing our nation and world today. I look forward to his service on our faculty."

Feingold will teach a course called: "Current Legal Issues: The U.S. Senate," which will be offered to upper-level law students.

Feingold is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a former Rhodes scholar and an honors law graduate of both Oxford University and Harvard University.

He practiced law for six years before gaining election to the Wisconsin Senate. He served 18 years in the U.S. Senate.

Feingold also disclosed that he expects to begin work on a book, but did not say immediately what the book will be about.

Nice to see the formerly poorest member of the US Senate has found a job. Would have been better if it had been in the 'real world' instead of academia, but at least it is not my tax dollars paying him.

A lot of it is tax dollars. Some from the state, and some from the feds. THere are subsidies, grants, and the like. There are also the tax credits and tax deductions offered to the students, which allows the university to charge higher fees.

This also shows what a joke university “professorships” are. We are told teaching is a highly skilled professions, and then we watch as ex-politicians and ex-political-appointees are all offered prestigious profesorships at highly-acclaimed colleges and universities, without any indication they have even basic teaching training, or are any good at it.

Apparently ANYBODY can teach a college course — if they have the right political connections, that is.

More proof that Marquette has forfeited its Catholic status.

In order for that corrupt former governor "I am a Gay American" of
NJ to collect a pension, the NJ Dems arranged for him to get his
time in at some community/junior college, if memory serves.

I'm surprised he wasn't invited to "teach" at Camelot High.
