"Net neutrality" rules must be implemented for content control while the government should quintuple federal funding for public and community broadcasting, Ben Scott, the State Department's recently appointed policy adviser for innovation, argues...The two were writing in the January/February 2009 edition of Tikkun Magazine, run by avowed Marxist Michael Lerner....

The two recommended the following policy implementations:

*Restore the original mission of the Federal Communications Commission as a guardian of the public interest. The FCC must become a 21st-century agency focused on the digital media marketplace of ideas and commerce, with a commitment to public engagement, transparency, and accountability.

*Support ownership limits and public oversight to foster more diverse, competitive, and local ownership of radio, TV, and cable channels.

* ... quintuple the federal funding for public and community broadcasting, to at least $3 billion annually – earmarking money for children's and public affairs programming. Funding should come from fees paid by commercial licensees to the public airwaves...

* Establish "Network Neutrality" rules that guarantee free speech and a free market on the Internet by prohibiting discrimination, manipulation, and interference by network owners ...

*Restore competition to the market in high-speed Internet access to break the hold of the cable-telephone duopoly on the nation's "broadband" infrastructure.

*Transition all public subsidies for telephone networks to fund infrastructure to bring the benefits of broadband to all Americans...

Nice of them to lay out their plans for seizing control of all communication in our country. Why is this guy working in the State Department? The part about "engagement, transparency, and accountability" is a dead giveaway of the organized lying, obfuscation and misdirection they have planned for us.

LIARS... here is the ORIGINAL MISSION OF THE FCC. Everything that anyone connected to obama says... is a lie... all lies... all of the time! See below.

“The Communications Act of 1934 was a United States federal law enacted as Public Law Number 416, Act of June 19, 1934.

The stated purposes of the Act are “regulating interstate and foreign commerce in communication by wire and radio so as to make available, so far as possible, to all the people of the United States a rapid, efficient, nationwide, and worldwide wire and radio communication service with adequate facilities at reasonable charges, for the purpose of the national defense, and for the purpose of securing a more effective execution of this policy by centralizing authority heretofore granted by law to several agencies and by granting additional authority with respect to interstate and foreign commerce in wire and radio communication, there is hereby created a commission to be known as the “Federal Communications Commission”, which shall be constituted as hereinafter provided, and which shall execute and enforce the provisions of this Act.”

Here comes the banana republic media control by the government, there goes the free market and any semblance of liberty. Once the government controls all access to information, we are doomed.

That is exactly what these people want. What I don’t understand is why they are telling us.

Folks pull out your land-line (if you still have one) telephone bill.

Look at all the extra taxes fees and surcharges on there.

Soon, you’ll have all the same on your ISP bill.

Yes, I suspect that is part of their agenda. The Algore’’ universal service fee had a specific goal when it was passed. That disappeared years ago and now we just pay a fee, the purpose of which changes from week to week.
