In a final flurry of appointments before leaving office, outgoing Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Sunday handed out paid jobs on state commissions to three former state senators and some staff members in the Governor's Office.

Former Republican Sen. Roy Ashburn of Bakersfield and former Senate Republican Leader Dennis Hollings-worth of Murietta each won $128,109-a-year posts on the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board. Former Sen. Carole Migden, a San Francisco Democrat, landed a $128,109-a-year job on the Agriculture Labor Relations Board.

Schwarzenegger also named his cabinet secretary, Scott Reid, to a $50,000-a-year job on the State Compensation Insurance Fund board. Schwarzenegger's legislative secretary, Michael Prosio, got a $25,500-a-year post on the Alcoholic Beverage Control Appeals Board.

These termed out legislators continue on the gravy train to collect a 128k annual pension..if not more. No matter if they are kooks, nuts, flakes, crooks..etc.

The Ashburn appointment is a major pay-off. Homo-boy went from being a reliable conservative vote to Arnold’s budget-bitch in 2008 and it was all for back-scratching favors.

This $hit has been going on for years in California. Arnold is just one in a long line of former governors. All this confirms is that he is as corrupt as so many of his predecessors.

California has a huge number of these commissions which have been created as resting places for former and defeated politicians. There is little work to be done and most get paid well over $100,000 a year for doing nothing. Just one more reason why CA is bankrupt.

I have two words for that incompetent and corrupt Austrian nut case and they are not Happy Birthday.

These political appointments irritate me but it’s politics as usual… exactly what Arnold wasn’t supposed to be when he won the recall. The transformation is complete.
