Yep, same thing happened to my 92-year old grandfather. He fell and broke his hip, became bedridden, developed circulation problems in his left leg, and gangrene set in. The doc had to amputate, and five days later, he was dead.

It was a pretty awful experience for him and our family, and I don't wish it on anybody.

My father-in-law suffered same except with a different outcome. I searched for a doc to do a bypass. He lived another 5 years keeping both his legs until his heart gave out on him. Unfortunately amputations seem to be the treatment of choice for necrosis. I suspect it will become the only treatment with Obamacare.
