The United States has helped Ukraine sent to Russia enough uranium to build two atomic bombs in a secret operation aimed at securing nuclear material.
The removal of more than 110 pounds of highly enriched uranium this week followed a pledge by Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych (yah-noo-KOH'-vich) to get rid of all of his country's highly enriched uranium by April 2012. The material will be blended down in Russia, rendering it useless for bomb making.
(snip)
Yanukovych agreed to give up the uranium in a deal announced at a nuclear security summit hosted by President Barack Obama in April.

Here’s an example of a really great idea.
You really think that Russia is going to not use that Enriched Uranium? I’d bet it is on the way to Iran as we speak.
Ukraine has boatloads of weaponry. They also have an indigenous miltary vehicle industry. As a country where the average salaries are under $100 per month and corruption is rampant, I’m happy see the uranium removed. I’d rather see it go to one of our facilities. Ukraine has had some military stuff end up where it shouldn’t have. Remember the ship that was seized by Somali pirates that was loaded with tanks? Guess were those came from. They ended up in an African nation where they did not belong.
I was being sarcastic / ironic.
