Anti-earmark Tea Party Caucus takes $1 billion in earmarks.

Members of the Congressional Tea Party Caucus may tout their commitment to cutting government spending now, but they used the 111th Congress to request hundreds of earmarks that, taken cumulatively, added more than $1 billion to the federal budget.

According to a Hotline review of records compiled by Citizens Against Government Waste, the 52 members of the caucus, which pledges to cut spending and reduce the size of government, requested a total of 764 earmarks valued at $1,049,783,150 during Fiscal Year 2010, the last year for which records are available.

"It's disturbing to see the Tea Party Caucus requested that much in earmarks. This is their time to put up or shut up, to be blunt," said David Williams, vice president for policy at Citizens Against Government Waste. "There's going to be a huge backlash if they continue to request earmarks."

Yeah, I’ve heard of Scott, and you’re right. I agree that we need to weed the bad players out and build from there.

Thanks for the link to the list of players in November 2010.

Thanks. Hey, I am on the side of the Tea Party and conservatives..but that doesnt mean I give them a free pass...lol. will watch em like a hawk after road kill. I want my country back. Have to confess when Scott Brown won..I celebrated and thought he would be a hell of a lot more conservative but he is just another free spending left winger. I love the ones like DeMint who is true to his word and the rest better grow spines and cut earmarks, fight to repeal obamacare and etc.

Thank you for the link that says, "The following is a list of congressional and gubernatorial candidates claiming Tea Party support in the midterm election."

Where is the list of Tea Party movement members who are now clinging to earmarks that are ready to go in January 2011?

The MSM employee was using the last Congress to, it seemed to me, malign the next Congress. That is, the "Tea Party movement" Election 2010 Congress.

The follow up response from the candidates..those already in and those to be sworn in...was to support the elimination of earmarks..even the Montana dude said he “wont do that again” despite how we feel..and the great victory we are celebrating..we need to remain diligent and make sure our “hope” for saving this country remains true to their words.
The reason for the list NOW is to show how those claiming to be Tea Party Affiliated voted. We will watch the NEW list after Jan too.
