Big Nannies Of The Year(Huckabee is top GOP nanny stater)
Human Events ^ | 12/29/2010 | MIchelle Malkin

Posted on 12/29/2010 8:43:21 AM PST by Brices Crossroads

It was a nefarious year for nettlesome nosy-bodies employed by the Nanny State. Here are the top power-grabbers who just can't leave us alone:

First lady Michelle Obama and Republican Mike Huckabee.

......

Next came Mrs. O's push for the $5 billion expansion of federal child nutrition programs. As I first reported in February 2010, the legislation was a pet project of the Service Employees International Union, which seeks to swell the ranks of dawn-to-dusk year-round public school food service workers who organize under the progressive activist slogan "serving justice, and serving lunch." In addition to school breakfast and lunch, the kiddie food patrol is now pushing subsidized dinner plans and summer food service to create a "stronger nutrition safety net."

Nanny State Republican Mike Huckabee, who used his bully pulpit position as Arkansas governor to campaign for Big Government-endorsed "healthier living" in public schools and private life, naturally sided with Mrs. Obama -- and took a swipe at Sarah Palin last week for criticizing the White House usurpation of parental responsibility and rights. Huckabee scoffed at the idea that the feds are "trying to force the government's desires on people." But school bake sales are already under siege, and Mrs. Obama's childhood obesity task force has already called for new and dramatic controls on the marketing of unhealthy foods. Did Huckabee miss (or does he agree with) Mrs. Obama's officious rallying cry on child nutrition: "We can't just leave it up to parents"?

God save us from more busybody bipartisanship in 2011.

I have finally distilled Huckabee's governing philosophy. It is to minimize the freedom of law-ABIDING citizens by meddling in, and over-regulating, their affairs while, at the same time, maximizing the freedom of notorious law-BREAKING, convicted killers and rapists, like Wayne Dumond, Maurice Clemmons and Glen Green, who employ this freedom, granted via Huckabee's executive clemency, to murder, rape and pillage yet again.

That is quite a platform on which to seek the GOP nomination.

Your analysis is correct. His personality might be effective in a pastor; it is not what I would seek - or tolerate - in a president.

I have this gut feeling that Huck has all of the potential to be our very own Obama/Carter.

He´s a two-time murderer by proxy. I would never vote for this miscreant.

Ping to post 1, especially.

Huck’s philosophy of governance=maximum freedom for criminals and minimum freedom for law-abiding citizens.

We need a president less like Huckabee and more like R. Lee Ermey.

Huckaphony, Romney, Gingrich and Palin have no business running for the nomination in 2012. We don’t ne re-treads, RINO’s, and proven losers. We need new conservative blood. We need a new Reagan. Where is that person? Hopefully they are just biding their time to stay out of the left wing media’s crosshairs until it is time to really start campaigning.

“His personality might be effective in a pastor; it is not what I would seek - or tolerate - in a president.”

As a pastor he can pray for and try to convert the criminal but he is powerless to release them. As governor, he violated his oath to protect the people and made horrible decisions, presumably in the name of false compassion (and in at least one case because a congregant asked for the pardon).

His 1033 pardons in just 10 years were well over twice as many as Clinton issued in the same period of time and far more than the surrounding states of Mississippi, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Louisiana and Tennessee (which have well over TEN TIMES the population of Arkansas) COMBINED.

I think the Lone Ranger is kaput. Better get your head out of the stratosphere. Palin is not a retread, having never run for President before; she is not a RINO (to call her such renders the term meaningless); and she is not a loser (failing to pull the ancient McCain across the finish line does not make her a loser; her presence on the ticket converted what would have been a 15-20 point debacle into a 7 point loss).

Either offer an alternative or stop the sniping from the cheap seats.

"... at the same time they are busy downplaying the importance of the traditional family, liberals are busy justifying expanding government in the name of 'the children.' "

Huckabee is a big government, busy-body liberal.

by your definition re 're-treads' - we shouldn't have voted for Reagan - who lost his first Presidential bid -

Or is your pronouncement just a thinly disguised attempt at lumping Sarah in with the elitists - to marginalize her?

Excellent analysis of Huck’s record. More freedom for the guilty, less for the innocent.

Amen! I wouldn’t vote for Huckabee if he were running for dog catcher, against Michael Vick.
