The White House is taking extra steps to prevent photos of a shirtless President Obama on vacation in Hawaii.

The president and his family are on a snorkeling trip in Haunama Bay State Park, and traveling press are under “explicit instructions that there will be no long lenses or other sneaky attempts to take pictures,” according to a pool report.

Photos of a shirtless president on a Hawaii vacation after his win in the 2008 presidential election caused a stir two Christmases ago. Washingtonian magazine even ran a photo of the president for a cover story on why it’s good to live in D.C. “Our new neighbor is hot,” the magazine declared.

But pictures aren’t likely to come out of Tuesday’s trip to the beach. “All you folks who wanted shirtless pictures of the president: Forget it,” writes The New York Times’s Sheryl Stolberg in her pool report.

Obama is with first lady Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha along with unidentified friends and their children. The pool report states that the Obama party will be at the park for two hours.

The park is closed on Tuesdays to allow fish and coral reef time to recuperate, the pool report states, but apparently has been opened for the president’s small party.

Totally unsubstantiated, but there was buzz earlier that he had his chest waxed so he’d take pretty pictures on that first go around shirtless, AND that his chest/body is white, leading to further speculation that he darkens up his face to look more black and appeal to his base. Hey, if vanity was his only sin I could endure the guy, unfortunately, not so.

From a public area, no. But woe to any in the MSM who publish them. Likely punished by pulling press credentials of one or more of their reporters and banishing them to the back of any press conference.

They have other ways to harass, too. One of our newbie FR members reports being visited by the Secret Service for critical opinions of Obama posted on FR. Very, very scary.

Obama Family Vacation Runs Into Troubled Waters: Again

Hawaii has been plagued with heavy rains recently, and the Oahu village of Kailua has been forced to release untreated sewage and agricultural runoff into Kailua Bay and the beaches around the Obamas' rental home. County officials have posted signs telling tourists to stay out of the water but many Hawaiian visitors are going in for a Christmas dip anyway.
