Obamas Winter Holiday Message
White House, December 22, 2010
Michelle and I send warm wishes to all those celebrating Kwanzaa, Solstice, Bodhi, Diwali, Eid ul Adha, Winterval, Hanukkah as well as Christmas this festive holiday season!
This is a joyous time of year when all Americans come together to celebrate our blessings and the richness of our diverse cultural traditions. This is also a time of reflection and renewal as we come to the end of one year and the beginning of another. It is truly a time for hope and change!
The spiritual and motivational messages of our various faiths/belief-systems tells us that we should recall the lessons of the past even as we seize the promise of tomorrow. Some of us may sacrifice a goat. Others go caroling. But, we in our own ways all join in joyous celebration with family, friends, ashram or coven members looking to see the darkness of our world turn to light!
Michelle and I are especially inspired by the principles of Unity, Collective Work, the Right of Health Care, Economic re-distribution, Protecting endangered species, Creativity, an End to Global Warming and Centralized Control of the Means of Production. These are the values that inspire us as individuals and families; communities and country to fight on to remake America into a place we can all be proud of.
Michelle and I know the challenges facing many families in our country and around the world, but we also know the spirit of perseverance and hope that is ever present in unity of our global citizenship on planet earth.
Remember: We are the hope weve been waiting for! It is in this spirit that our family extends our prayers, chants, meditations and best wishes during this season and for the New Year to come!
Hey, he left us out! We were celebrating Pat’s Birthday on December 22. Pat is not going to forgive the slight, and when his mothership lands, Zero is toast.
Ok, there is no way for me to know: is that real??
What the hell is “Winterval”? And they left out Festivus!
That’s season-ist!
“Remember: We are the hope weve been waiting for!”
That one line tells says it all.
Please tell me that whole thing is a joke or an “Onion” fabrication...?!
Ashram or coven? WTH!?
