The worst part of losing your power is having to rely on a battery-operated radio for information...that will make you pull your hair out, and clearly explains why there are so many uninformed idiots in this country. If you get your news from radio on a regular basis instead of the internet...it is like night and day. No solid news at all...endless recitations of ‘school and business closing’ and other pointless blather. How about a much shorter list of what is actually OPEN, then you can devote air time to more important issues like when power is going to be restored in your area. Go without internet for twelve hours, and listen to your local radio station as a substitute. You WILL lower your IQ by a dozen points or more...

You got that right. TV is just as bad, but without power even what little news there is on the radio seems like a lifeline to the outside world. :)

My husband is now making clam chowder.
